DRIVERS CHARGED OVER THE WEEKEND

(THUNDER BAY, ON) On Saturday October 26 2013 at 12:34 am, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were conducting a RIDE spot check on Highway 61 in the City of Thunder Bay.

A Dodge truck entered the spot check and as an officer was speaking with the driver, the officer detected an odour of alcohol emitting from the drivers breath. Subsequently the driver was found to be over the legal limit.

Kevin LAIDLER, 37 years of age, from Neebing was arrested and charged with Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code.

He is to appear in Provincial Court on December 10 2013 to answer to the charge.

On Saturday, October 26 at 7:10 am, an officer responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 11/17 in the Municipality of Shuniah. The driver of a Chrysler PT Cruiser was east bound on Highway 11/17 when the driver left the roadway and struck a rock cut. The driver was not injured but the vehicle sustained extensive damage.

Roy Halvorsen, 57 years of age, from Thunder Bay was issued an Offence Notice for Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

On Saturday, October 26 at 5:25 pm, a Highway Safety Division officer was on patrol on Highway 11/17 near Pineview Road when the officer observed the driver of Pontiac driving at a high rate of speed. The driver was found to be driving in excess of 170 km/hr.

Samuel Lloyd, 47 years of age, from Lethbridge Alberta was issued a Provincial Offences Summons for Stunt Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. His vehicle was towed and has been impounded for 7 days.

He is to attend Provincial Offences Court on December 13 2013 to answer to the charge.
