Driver Rearends Tractor Trailer

(LAMBTON, ON) – On Wednesday July 13th, 2016 at approximately 7:00 a.m., the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was dispatched to a two vehicle, motor vehicle collision, in the area of 402 Highway, westbound, and Christina Street, City of Sarnia involving a tractor trailer and a pick-up truck.

Lambton OPP along with Lambton Emergency Medical Service (EMS) and Point Edward Fire and Rescue responded to the collision which resulted in a 68 year old Sarnia man being transported to hospital by EMS with non-life threatening injuries.

Initial investigation revealed that a tractor trailer was stopped on 402 Highway, westbound, in the area of Christina Street, due to traffic congestion at Bluewater Bridge. The lone driver of a westbound pick-up truck failed to observe the stopped tractor trailer in the lane ahead and collided into the rear of the tractor trailer.

Traffic flow on 402 Highway, westbound, was temporarily affected for about 1 hour while involved motor vehicles were removed and the highway cleared of debris. Investigation is on-going and charges are pending.

The OPP would like to remind the public that it is everyone’s responsibility to operate a motor vehicle on a highway with due care and attention and with reasonable consideration for other persons using the highway.
