(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Monday July 21, 2014, around 5:30 a.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision at the roundabout located at the intersection of Hwy 7 and Perth Road 118 (south east of St.Marys).
Investigation revealed that shortly before 5:30 a.m., a lone north bound Toyota Camry entered the round-about and failed to sufficiently slow down. The driver was unable to negotiate the curve and crossed the centre island of the roundabout. The vehicle sustained severe damage however the driver was not injured. It was foggy at the time of the collision.
The driver, a 21 year old Stratford male has been charged with “careless drivingâ€Â.
Motorists are reminded to slow down as they approach roundabouts and to keep to the right of the splitter island. Foggy conditions should cause motorists to decrease speed and increase awareness of road, signage, and traffic conditions.
