DRIVER FACES NUMEROUS CHARGES AFTER TRAFFIC STOP

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) On Wednesday July 31, 2013 at 2:00 a.m. members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a white, GMC Yukon that was observed pulling a trailer on Falconbridge Drive at Mcarthur Road, Southwest Middlesex. Police learned that the Ontario issued licence plates were not registered to the vehicle.

As a result of an investigation police have charged the driver Wade MEECHAM-YOUNG, age 22 of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation with:

Two counts of Use plate not authorized for vehicle as per Section 12(1)(d) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

Possession Break In Instruments as per Section 351(1) of the Criminal Code (CC) of Canada

Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada 354(1)(a) CC

Operate a motor vehicle without insurance as per Section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA)

Drive motor vehicle – no licence 32(1) HTA

Draw trailer, no plate 7(4)(b) HTA

Draw trailer, no permit 7(4)(a) HTA

Driver – fail to properly wear seat belt 106(2) HTA

Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner 11(2) HTA

No red light on rear of trailer 62(24) HTA

The driver was later released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA) and is scheduled to appear in a London court on September 12, 2013 to speak to the charges.
