(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On July 27, 2015, just after 9:30 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers, Chatham-Kent Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Chatham-Kent Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a single tractor trailer on Highway 401 eastbound, near Communication Road.

The collision occurred when a Volvo tractor trailer was traveling westbound on Highway 401, left the roadway, crossed through the median and the eastbound lanes, rolled over in the south ditch where it came to rest on its passenger side.

The 42-year-old male driver from Brampton, Rahul GHAI, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has been charged with Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The Ministry of the Environment (MOE) and Chatham-Kent Fire Department were notified of a fuel spill that resulted from the crash.

The eastbound lanes of the highway in that location were closed for several hours, but have since reopened.
