DRIVER CHARGED IN SERIOUS COLLISION ON HIGHBURY AVENUE AT MEDWAY ROAD

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – One driver has been charged following a serious collision at the intersection of Highbury Avenue and Medway Road in the Municipality of Middlesex Centre.

On March 4, 2014 at approximately 2:05 p.m. Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Middlesex Centre Fire and London Middlesex Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a serious two vehicle collision on Highbury Avenue at Medway Road. Police closed the section of Highbury Avenue between Medway Road and Eight Mile Road as they conducted their investigation.

Police have learned that a car with a lone female occupant was travelling westbound on Medway Road. As the vehicle travelled through the intersection, it was struck by a northbound vehicle carrying two female occupants.

The westbound driver was extricated by fire crews and all parties were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The intersection was re-opened at approximately 4:20 p.m.

As a result of the investigation, police have charged the driver of the northbound vehicle, Mary STACEY, age 67 of St. Catharines, ON with Red Light – Fail to Stop, under the Highway Traffic Act.
