(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) – A Township of Chatsworth man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and impaired – over 80 milligrams, after the vehicle he was operating nearly collided with four (4) Ontario Provincial Police Officers operating All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) in the Township of Southgate.
On Saturday, July 12, 2014, at approximately 12:35 a.m., four (4) OPP officers, each operating an ATV, were parked inside the campground of the Holstein Rodeo event located on Southgate Road 49 in the Township of Southgate. Police heard and then observed a Dodge pick-up truck driving at a high rate of speed within the campground area. The vehicle was spinning its tires and as it proceeded around a corner, the vehicle nearly collided with the OPP ATVs. There were several pedestrians in the area at the time.
The driver of the vehicle, who had two female passengers on board, was found to have been drinking alcohol.
Christopher Harold HOLMES, 21, of the Township of Chatsworth, is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, August 14, 2014.
