(Otonabee-South Monaghan Township, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. spot check on Base Line Saturday shortly after 3:00pm when a vehicle turned before reaching officers and attempted to flee.
The suspect drove west on Base Line at high speeds and through the stop sign at Keene Road. In the interest of public safety, officers opted to patrol the area for signs of the vehicle and driver, rather than chase the suspect.
Patrolling officers located the suspect vehicle shortly after it was involved in a collision at the intersection of Base Line and Matchett Line.
Robert DOUGALL (age 31) of Peterborough, ON was arrested and charged with:
Dangerous driving
Flight while pursued by police
Impaired driving
Driving with more than 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood
The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough, Ontario on December 29, 2016.
