(Municipality of Tent Lakes, ON) – On Tuesday December 17, at approximately 4:30 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police Highway Safety Division were conducting a RIDE program on Lakehurst Road near Gannon’s Narrows Bridge.
At this time officers attempted to stop a Ford Utility Truck at the RIDE to check for driver sobriety. The male driver refused to comply with officers directions and became verbally abusive.
The driver was advised that he would be charged under the Highway Traffic Act for an offence at which time he became aggressive and shoved the investigating officer.
A physical confrontation ensued as the driver resisted officers attempts to arrest him for his assault.
As a result of the occurrence, 38 year old Michael GEDDES of Trent Lakes has been charged with, Assault Peace Officer and Assault to Resist Arrest.
GEDDIES is to appear in Peterborough Provincial Courts on Wednesday December 18, 2013 for a Bail Hearing.
