(PETROLIA, ON) – On Sunday December 13th, 2015 at approximately 2:34 a.m., a member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a suspicious parked motor vehicle behind a commercial premise in the Town of Petrolia.
While on general patrol in the 4000 block of Dufferin Avenue, Town of Petrolia, a member of the Lambton OPP observed a suspicious motor vehicle parked behind a commercial building. The officer approached the motor vehicle from a distance and could see two male occupants sitting in the vehicle. The officer made contact with both occupants and could see that both were consuming alcoholic beverages. After speaking with the occupant in the driver seat of the motor vehicle, the investigating officer formed the opinion that he was impaired due to the consumption of alcoholic beverages. The male occupant was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP – Petrolia Detachment for breath testing which resulted in readings more than twice the legal limit.
As a result, 19 year-old, Shale Owen Christopher SALISBURY of Brooke-Alvinston Township, ON was charged with:
Care or Control While Impaired
Care or Control Over 80 mgs
Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor
The accused will appear in the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Monday January 4th, 2015.
The OPP is reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or other drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. A BAC of above .08 will result in an impaired driving charge.
