Double Fatal Head On Collision On Hwy 89

(ESSA, ON) – On Saturday November 5, 2016 at approximately 1:28 am Nottawasaga OPP were dispatched to a serious personal injury collision on Highway 89 between the 8th and 9th Line in Essa Township just west of Village of Cookstown.

Preliminary Investigation reveals that a Dodge Caravan and Honda Ridgeline pickup collided head-on. Both drivers succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision and Reconstruction investigators attended and processed the scene. The roadway was closed for seven and half hours.

The names of involved parties involved will not be released until post-mortem is conducted.

Investigation is continuing.
