(NORTH HURON, ON) – A 59 year old is facing several charges after police responded to a single vehicle roll over collision on September 27, 2014. Just after 2:30 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers and North Huron Fire Department members attended the collision scene located on Reid Road near Currie Line. Police located a Chevrolet Malibu flipped over on its roof in the north ditch. Both the driver and male passenger had sustained minor injuries from the collision and were transported to hospital for treatment.
While speaking with the driver, police determined he had been drinking alcohol and was displaying signs that he was impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and when it came time to provide breath samples he refused. Also, during the course of the investigation the driver obstructed the officer and threatened to kill the officer.
As a result, 59 year old Donald LAVOIE from North Huron has been charged with Impaired Driving, Fail to Provide Breath Sample, Driving While Disqualified, Obstruct Peace Officer and Uttering Threats. He has remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 1, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
