(Madoc, ON) – On January 6, 2014 at 3:40 p.m. Central Hastings O.P.P and Centre Hastings Fire Department responded to a request for assistance in relation to a dog going through the ice on Moira Lake near MacDonald Crescent. A local female who was cross country skiing on the west side of Moira Lake reported that her dog ran a distance ahead of her and subsequently went through the ice near an area of open water. The Centre Hastings Fire Department successfully rescued the dog from the frigid water.
