(ORILLIA, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is asking motorists to ask themselves this question: Do you drive with your full lighting system on? If the answer is no, then now is the time to turn them on.
With the various forms of mixed precipitation that we are experiencing today and what is being forecast to come over the next few days, being seen on the roads at all times needs to be a priority and activating your full lighting system will help you to be seen.
The use of your full lighting system especially in snow squalls and not just relying on your daytime running lights is important as the significantly reduced visibility will let other motorists see you approaching them and those motorists approaching you will see you as well.
The weather that is being predicted over the next few days will without a doubt be a challenge to even the most experienced driver. The OPP is urging the public to “tune in†to local radio stations, listen to weather warnings from Environment Canada, dial 511 for the Ministry of Transportation Travellers Road Information Line and if weather conditions are poor, to please reconsider any travel plans.
