The OPP have resources available to them the Wingham Police (Timmy and the Timbits) could only dream of. Several recent incidents have demonstrated our Wingham officers need backup and the ability to instantly coordinate with all other police officers in the area. This is essential to the security of our Community. Seconds matter in cases of abduction or when a police cruiser is stolen.
Is it really worth risking the lives of our police officers just so they can have a Wingham shoulder patch and Wingham sticker our cruisers? Merger of the Wingham police force into the OPP will save money in the long run, provide our officers with tools and training to protect themselves and our Community, greatly reduce corruption and increase police transparency. Why would anyone oppose that?
