Derek MCCLELLAND Drunk Driving

(Oro-Medonte, ON) – On Saturday December 6th, 2014 at approximately 9:00 p.m., an off duty officer from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) observed a vehicle speeding on highway 11 southbound, in the Township of Oro-Medonte.

Officers from the Barrie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located the vehicle at the Highway 11/ Simcoe County Rd 93 carpool lot. During the investigation the officer determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, Derek MCCLELLAND, 24 years of Cookstown was arrested and charged with driving while having more than 80mgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood contrary to the Criminal Code.

His licence was suspended for a period of 90 days under the Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) program and his motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days. The accused will be making his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on December 22, 2014.
