Dennis STEWART – Impaired Operation Of Vehicle

(MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD, ON) – On February 22, 2016 at approximately 8:32 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information regarding a possible impaired driver operating a black Chevrolet Impala in the Municipality of Meaford.

Police stopped the suspect vehicle on Grey Rd. 15 at Sideroad 33 in Leith and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Meaford OPP Detachment for breath tests. The driver refused to provide a second sample of his breath after his first sample registered a reading of more than twice the legal limit. Despite police warnings as to the consequences of failing to provide breath samples, the driver refused.

59-year old Dennis STEWART of the Municipality of Meaford was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and with failing or refusing to provide breath sample. He is scheduled to appear in Court in Owen Sound on March 10, 2016.

The vehicle was impounded for seven days and his driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.
