(GODERICH, ON) – At approximately 10:30 am on March 29, 2011 a collision occurred in the parking lot of the Beer Store in Goderich. While a Huron OPP member investigated, the officer determined that the driver who had struck a parked vehicle had the odour of an alcoholic beverage on her breath. The officer read a demand for the woman to provide a roadside sample of her breath and she complied. The result of her test was a fail and she was arrested for Over 80.
The driver was taken to the Huron OPP Detachment where she met with a qualified Intoxilizer Technician to provide two more samples of her breath. The results of both tests confirmed that the woman had a blood alcohol level that was well above the legal limit of 80 milligrams.
As a result of the fender bender and subsequent investigation, Denise FAWCETT (46) of Central Huron has been charged with one count of Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. She will answer to her charge in the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on May 16, 2011.
