(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – Shortly after 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2014 Huron County OPP officers and Huron County EMS responded to a fatal collision in Port Albert located on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway at Victoria Street.
The investigation has revealed a Chevrolet Traverse was southbound on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway when it collided with a deer that had entered onto the roadway. The impact of the collision sent the deer airborne into the path of a northbound Ford Escape whereupon the deer entered the interior compartment of the Escape and struck and killed a front seat passenger.
The female passenger in the Ford Escape was pronounced deceased at the scene. The deceased has been identified as 67 year old Elizabeth NEABLE from Tiverton.
The driver of the Ford Escape, 69 year old Murray NEABLE from Tiverton was transported to hospital with minor injuries. He has since been released from hospital.
The two occupants in the Chevrolet Traverse were uninjured.
The roadway is now open for travel.
