(ATIKOKAN, ON) – On Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 4:30 pm, officers from the Atikokan Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for assistance on Marmion Lake.
A 63 year old male from Ballwin Missouri, had entered the water to retrieve a boat, the male subsequently went underwater and did not surface.
Police are currently at the scene along with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) conducting a search of the area.
The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) have been called in to assist and should arrive sometime today.
On Friday June 3rd, 2016 at 12:15 pm members of the Rainy Rivers District Detachment of the OPP as well as a Conservation Officer from the MNRF recovered the remains of Nicolas Fox (63) of Ballwin, Missouri.
A post mortem examination will be conducted in Thunder Bay on Monday June 6, 2016.
