(PORT HOPE, ON) –On October 20, 2015 at 5:18am Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Port Hope Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a report of an explosion at a residence on Lunny Lane, Port Hope.
Investigators have located the body of a deceased person within the remains of the home and are attempting to identity the victim.
The deceased has been identified as the home owner, Michael VANHERREWEGHE age 66 years of Port Hope, Ontario.
The investigation into the cause of the explosion continues by the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit.
