Deceased Identified In Hwy 40 Fatal Collision

(CHATHAM, ON) On June 30, 2016 around 2:50 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision on Highway 40 north of Dufferin Avenue.

A GMC Jimmy, carrying two occupants, was travelling southbound on Highway 40 when it left the roadway and rolled before coming to rest in the east ditch.

One occupant was ejected from the vehicle and the other occupant was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, 61-year-old Walter Kenneth BROWN of St Clair Township was pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway 40 between Langstaff Line and Dufferin Avenue was closed for approximately 6 hours. The OPP’s Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) assisted with the investigation.
