Deceased Identified In 401 Collision

(BLANDFORD – BLENHEIM TOWNSHIP, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to investigate a two-vehicle fatal collision in the westbound lanes on Highway 401 in Blandford-Blenheim Township.

On March 23, 2016 at approximately 11:55 a.m. OPP were called to the collision on Highway 401 westbound, just west of Township Road 8. The collision occurred when a west bound Chevrolet car struck the rear of a Hyundai SUV which was also travelling westbound at the time. The car then spun out of control and left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch. The SUV lost came to rest against the center median.

As a result of the collision, the lone male driver of the car was transported by ambulance to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The other lone female driver of the SUV was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with minor injuries.

The deceased male driver of the car has been identified as 67-year-old Robert SHELLEY, of Aylmer.

The investigation is complete and there will be no charges laid as a result of this collision.
