(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) On Friday June 7, 2013 at approximately 11:13pm officers from the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a pick-up truck that failed to stop at the intersection of County Rd. 29 and County Rd. 18 and preceded north bound through the trees and came to rest in the Grand River.
Officer located the vehicle, a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck that was heavily damaged and in the water up to the wheel wells. Police spoke to the driver and discovered that she had been drinking. The driver was placed under arrest for impaired driving and was subsequently transported by ambulance to Groves Memorial Hospital for precautionary measures.
Debby Speelziek aged 50 of Brantford was charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80mgs contrary to the Criminal Code. She is scheduled to appear in Guelph court on July 19, 2013 to answer to the charges.
