On Friday September 27 2013 at approximately 7:45 pm Wal-Mart store security observed a male person (suspect) acting suspiciously in the electronics department. Security observed the suspect select a security system from the display and conceal the item in his back pack. The suspect left the store without making any attempt to pay for the item. Store security stopped the male and placed him under arrest and Police were called.
Cst Charbonneau of the Chatham-Kent Police attended and upon searching the accused, located a prohibited weapon (Brass Knuckles). The accused was also on a recognizance of bail not to carry any weapons. The accused was read his rights and cautioned and transported to police station.
David Edward FIELDS 34 years of age, resident of Chatham was subsequently charged with Theft and Possession under $5,000.00, Breach of Recognizance and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. Field was held for a bail hearing.
