(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On January 2, 2015 at approximately 9:10 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks at Wellington Road 124 and the Sixth Line of the Town of Erin.
Officers investigated the male driver of a 2014 Hyundai that entered into the checkpoint. While speaking with the driver, police immediately determined that he had consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail.
The driver’s licence has been suspended and vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
Daniel CHARLAND age 31 from the Town of Erin has been charged with Over 80 MGS contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on January 27, 2015 to answer to the charge.
