On Sunday April 27 2014, The Kitchener Fire Department (KFD) responded to a home on Howe Drive to investigate a smell of gas inside the residence. KFD eventually located a small explosive device in the basement, evacuated the residence as a precaution and contacted police. The device was seized for forensic analysis. The investigation is ongoing.
