(PEMBROKE, ON) – Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol in the area of Mackay Street and Alfred Street in the City of Pembroke when they encountered an intoxicated male in the early morning hours of December 10, 2016. The man became combative with police after he was arrested under the Liquor License Act (LLA). As a result 35 year old Damien Patrick MCELROY was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
Obstruct Peace Officer
Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest – 2 counts
He was also charged under the LLA for being intoxicated in a public place. He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Pembroke on January 17, 2017.
