Daily News Release – Saturday, April 4, 2015

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 119 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested and one was held for a bail hearing.

Suspicious Male

Just prior to 1AM on April 3, 2015, Chatham-Kent Police and Ambulance attended the area of Lorne Ave, Chatham, for an unresponsive male. Upon arrival, the male was laying on the roadway, unconscious with his pants pulled below his waist. It is believed that he was under the influence of drugs and possibly alcohol.

The 28 year old Chatham man was checked by Paramedics and then arrested by Police for public safety, and lodged into cells, where he could be monitored. He was released several hours later, once he had sobered up.

Stolen Vehicle

On April 3, 2015, Chatham-Kent Police attended an address on Ninth St, Chatham, for a complaint of a stolen vehicle. It was learned that an E-Bike was parked outside the address the previous evening, and was stolen from outside the residence overnight.

The E-bike was black in colour and had a damaged right mirror and left pedal. It was valued at approximately $1000. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigating officer, Matt STEZYCKI at (519) 436-6600, ext. 87128. Bail Violations

In July, 2014, a male was charged with various Assaults, Uttering Threats, Breach of Recognizance and Obstruct Justice. He was later released on a recognizance with various conditions; one, being a daily curfew to be in his residence between 10PM and 6AM.

On April 3, 2015, Chatham-Kent Police conducted a residence check prior to 11PM. It was found that he had left the residence, and his surety did not know his whereabouts. The 43 year old Chatham man returned a short while later. He was arrested for breaching his curfew and held for a bail hearing.

Break and Enter

On April 3, 2015, Chatham-Kent Police attended a residence on Merritt Ave, Chatham, for a break and enter complaint. Sometime overnight, unknown person(s) entered through the front door and stole a purse, containing a quantity of cash, gift cards, debit and credit cards, personal identification cards, as well as car and house keys, totalling an approximate value of $800. However, there were no signs of forced entry to the residence.

Criminals seek easy opportunity, whether it would be theft from vehicles or residences. Citizens are reminded to secure all windows and doors before leaving their vehicle(s) or home unattended, and prior to bedtime, as well as, not leaving anything of any value in plain sight.
