At approximately 10:24pm, on Friday night a 55 year old Barrie resident was driving his SUV in the area of Burton St. and Essa Rd. The driver decided to attend the Mac’s variety store at the intersection to purchase gasoline and entered the lot. The driver discovered that the pumps were closed and continued through the lot and struck a 63 year old male cyclist. The vehicle driver continued onto Essa Rd. with the cyclist being dragged to the intersection of Essa Rd. and Gowan St. The police were called and located the vehicle. The cyclist was transported to RVH where his injuries were treated. Fortunately the injuries were relatively minor in nature. Members of the Barrie Police Service Traffic Unit are continuing the investigation.
