(ELGIN COUNTY) – Police have identified the cyclist killed in yesterdays fatal collision involving an SUV and bicycle. The collision occurred on on Buis Line, Central Elgin just before 5pm on August 24, 2013. A eastbound SUV collided head on with the westbound cyclist. The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cyclist has been identified as Alvin KORVEMAKER, age 49 of Aylmer ON.
A post mortem examination has been scheduled for Monday August 26, 2013.
Police continue to investigate the cause of the collision.

An unidentified adult male cyclist is dead after being struck by an SUV earlier this afternoon August 24th 2013.
The collision occurred on Buis Line, Central Elgin, which is just North West of Aylmer On at approximately 4:58pm.
The cyclist was traveling West on Buis Line approximately 2km West of Springwater Road when he was struck head on by an eastbound Chevy Blazer being operated by a 17 year old London ON youth.
The male cyclist was pronounced dead. The 17 year-old driver was transported to St.Thomas Elgin General Hospital as a precaution. He has since been released.
The male cyclist believed to be in his 50’s or 60’s has not yet been identified.
With the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police Technical Traffic Collision Investigations Unit Elgin OPP officers continue to investigation the collision.
Buis Line is expected to remain closed until approximately 11pm.
