Criminal Harassment

Barrie Police responded to a 9-1-1 call to a coffee shop on Cundles Street regarding a suspicious male. The female who was working saw a middle aged man staring at her while she was working. She did not feel safe as he had done the exact same thing within the past two weeks and had been told to cease this behaviour. He did not approach her, but certainly was making her feel uncomfortable and fearful as she was aware that police had dealt with him previously and he did not follow their verbal directions.

Investigating officers located the 55 year old man a short distance away and he was arrested and taken into custody. He was obviously under the influence of alcohol when he was arrested. He was charged criminally with Criminal Harassment due to his repetitive behaviour and stalking like tendencies. He remains in custody until he is able to be released once sober. He will be in court in October in answer to the charge. No one was injured during this incident.
