Criminal Driving Charges

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL) detachment conducted two separate traffic stops that led to the following criminal driving charges.

On July 3, 2015 a RIDE spot check was conducted in Pontypool. As a result of an investigation commenced at the RIDE check Pierre DESROCHERS, 71 years of age, of the City of Kawartha Lakes was charged with Operating a motor vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on July 30, 2015.

On July 3, 2015 a CKL OPP officer stopped a motor vehicle on City of Kawartha Lakes Road 36 for a Highway Traffic Act violation. As a result of the investigation, Jordan DALLARD, 29 years of age, of Peterborough was charged with the following offences:

Drive while disqualified contrary to the section 259(4) of the Criminal Code

Possession of stolen property under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

Breach of a Recognizance contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code

Breach of a Peace Bond contrary to section 811 of the Criminal Code

Operate a motor vehicle without insurance contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

Use plate not authorized for vehicle contrary to section 12(1)(d) of the Highway Traffic Act

Driving while suspended contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act

The accused’s vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for 45 days. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
