(Cavan-Monaghan Township) – Thursday afternoon, May 28th the Cavan Monaghan the Fire Department, in conjunction with Peterborough County/City Paramedics, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Benson Funeral Home of Millbrook, MADD – Peterborough Chapter and ABA Auto Wreckers Ltd., Cavan will join with Crestwood Secondary School students in a mock crash disaster.
The mock crash is organized to raise awareness and help prevent the incidence of impaired driving among youth. Stakeholders in highway safety will join together for this re-enactment that will serve to educate and help keep our high school students and communities safe.
“Driving when impaired is a crime,” says Bill Balfour, Fire Chief, Cavan Monaghan Fire Department. “Having students watch an enactment of its effects and consequences will serve as a message that impaired driving is not okay. Youth can be instrumental in arriving safely at their destination.”
