(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Wednesday July 04, 2012, at approximately 1 p.m., Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a single motor vehicle crash on Line 87 between Road 152 and Road 157 (north of Listowel).
Investigation revealed that a 2004 Ford Explorer SUV towing a pop-up tent trailer was travelling west bound on Line 87. The vehicle crested a hill and met an eastbound vehicle. The driver of the SUV swerved to the right causing it to fishtail. The vehicle and trailer left roadway, entered the north ditch where the SUV rolled numerous times coming to a stop as it struck a utility pole. The trailer disconnected from the SUV and ended up approximately 30 meters from the truck.
The lone occupant of the SUV, a 30 year old female driver from Cambridge was transported to Listowel Memorial Hospital where she was treated for her minor injuries, As a result of the investigation, she was charged with “careless drivingâ€Â. The SUV and trailer were completely destroyed but the utility pole remained intact.
The crash resulted in closure of Line 87 between Road 152 and Road 157 from 1 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. This allowed for investigation into the crash and the safe removal of the debris.
