Crash On 86 Resulted In 2 Hour Lane Closure

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Thursday March 22, 2012 around 5:30 a.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a two vehicle crash on Perth Line 86 in front of Conway Furniture east of Listowel.

Investigation revealed that the driver of a west bound Ford Escape fell asleep and as a result his vehicle crossed the centre line and entered onto the east bound lane. The driver of an eastbound Ford F150 pickup truck was unable to avoid the oncoming Ford Escape and the vehicles sideswiped each other. Both vehicles were inoperable and blocked the east bound lane of Perth Line 86 for two hours.

Neither the driver of the Ford F150, a 25 year old male from the Municipality of North Perth nor the driver of the Ford Escape, a 35 year old male from Kitchener sustained injuries. The Kitchener driver has been charged with “careless driving”.
