Council To Discuss Hiring More Wingham Officers At Next Council Meeting – Wingham Policing To Be 3X More Than OPP’s $355/Property

Wingham policing costs are expected to hit $1,000/property in Wingham for 2018, that will be 3X more than the OPP’s $355. At the next council meeting they will be discussing hiring more police officers for Wingham. Spoiler Alert: They will approve the budget to hire more officers, then the next step is to expand to the rest of North Huron.

NOTE: The Wingham Police were in favor of disbanding, the Police Board Chair was in favor, the majority of Winghamites were in also in favor of disbanding the police, and so were 50% of Wingham Ward councillors. None of that mattered, as Blyth & E-W councillors (Knott, Campbell, Hallahan & Vodden) already voted the OPP away before a Wingham Ward Councillor was allowed to vote. It should also be noted that no Public or Press questions were allowed, and recording the meeting would result in your arrest. I guess that’s life living in a Democracy.
