At the 26Feb budget meeting Neil Vincent and Town Staff claimed the
reason North Huron spends a ridiculous amount of our money on
advertising, is because we have two newspapers in North Huron.
That’s right, newspapers allegedly still exist. I guess
Seniors and the Amish need news too. Someone even told me the
other day that AM radio is still going! If I knew someone with
a AM radio I could verify that.
You have all heard the horror stories of Council blowing $10,000 to
$20,000 on a radio ads for nothing, at $38/spot. Council
doesn’t ask why staff want to blow this money, they don’t
care. They simply ask if it is in the budget then they approve
it. Remember, the budget is rubber stamped without question or
debate.
So, what advertising is mandatory”? Do we really need to
advertise all public meetings
