(ALNWICK-HALDIMAND TWP, ON) – At 9pm last night (July 8, 2014) Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of a cougar spotted near homes in the area of Cranberry Lake Road and County Road 23 north of Grafton.
A resident advised police that the animal was in his driveway and described it as brown in colour weighing about 150 lbs. It was last seen heading into a nearby wooded area.
OPP would request that any sightings of the cougar be reported immediately to the police and to exercise extreme caution as this is a wild animal. Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) officials have been made aware of the sighting and police have increased patrols in the area.
