Cottage Break In

(North Kawartha Township, ON) – A cottage owner arrived at their property yesterday to find the door had been forced open. The break-in occurred between January 19, 2015 and January 20, 2015.

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the seasonal residence on Hogan Lake Road and are currently investigating the entry and exploring possible suspects.

Hogan Lake Road is in the northeast portion of Peterborough County. This entry shows that thieves were active in this area. Property owners who access their cottages off of Peterborough County Road 620 are encouraged to check on their properties and report unlawful entries to police.

Early detection of property entries is important for investigators to obtain valuable forensic evidence and may assist in linking a suspect to numerous crimes. During the coldest part of the winter, structures that are left insecure after an entry, may incur further damage.

The Ontario Provincial Police is committed to public safety, delivering proactive and innovative policing in partnership with our communities.

Peterborough County OPP values your contribution to building safe communities. If you have information about suspected unlawful activity, please visit Crime Stoppers at: www.stopcrimehere.ca or call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)
