(TEMAGAMI, ON) A member of the Temagami Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle for speeding and littering on Highway 11, Temagami on July 23, 2013 at approximately 9:05 a.m.
Upon police attempting to speak with the driver of the vehicle, the passenger interfered and continued to obstruct police. Police were unable to complete the vehicle stop due to the passenger’s behaviour. The 26-year-old male was arrested for obstruct police.
Further investigation resulted in several charges.
Driver, Steffani WATSON 21 of Wasaga Beach is charged with speeding – section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act.
Passenger, Cory SHEWELL of Barrie is charged with Obstruct Peace Officer – section 129(a) of the Criminal Code, Possession of Marihuana – section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Litter highway – section 180 of the Highway Traffic Act, Having liquor in open container in other than licenced premises, residence or private place – section 31(2) of the Liquor Licence Act.
Accused will appear in Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on August 30, 2013.
