COOK – Drinking And Driving

(SUDBURY, ON) –At 4:18 p.m., on February 27, 2016, members from the Sudbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision on Highway 17, in the City of Greater Sudbury.

Investigation revealed that a vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 17 was attempting to overtake another eastbound vehicle when it left the roadway, struck a pole and came to rest in the ditch.

After officers arrived at the scene, it was determined that the male driver had consumed alcohol. A roadside breath test was administered. The driver registered a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) in the “Warn Range”.

As a result of the investigation, Timothy COOK, 44 years of age, from Sudbury, was issued an immediate roadside driver’s licence suspension for seven days.

The vehicle the accused was operating was towed to a local towing impound.

The male driver was also charged with: Fail to drive in marked lane, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
