On November 16, 2014 at 4:50 a.m., the Guelph Police went to Water Street to investigate the report that a city vehicle went off the roadway and the driver fled on foot. Police were able to locate the driver in the area and he was arrested. Investigation alleges that the man had attended to the Public Works Yards on Municipal Street and broke into the building. Numerous trucks had their windows smashed and several trucks had been driven into each other. The man then took a Street Sweeper out of the garage by smashing through the rear overhead door and onto Water Street and Denver Street where he drove off the road and into a bush area where he fled the scene. Estimated damage to Public Works and their vehicles is $100,000.
Connor Marion, 18 years of Guelph has been charged with break, enter and theft over, mischief over $5,000, mischief under $5,000, impaired driving and drive over 80mg. He will appear in court on January 2, 2014.
