(TILLSONBURG, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is asking all drivers to help them in reducing preventable collisions within our communities.
OPP presented to the Tillsonburg Police Services Board this week, a report of all Motor Vehicle Collisions that occurred in 2013 within the town.
The total number of collisions reported for 2013 (up to December 11, 2013) was 251 compared to 2012 which saw 239 reported in Tillsonburg. Topping the list with 26 collisions was the parking lots associated to the Tillsonburg Town Centre Mall. The Metro Grocery Store parking lot on Broadway was second with 7. The majority of the collisions reported in town were property damage only, not involving personal injury.
The OPP would like to ask our drivers out there to please be more aware of their surroundings when using high traffic areas, and more specifically parking lots.
“When pulling into and reversing out of spaces, please take the extra few seconds and double check all your blind spots. Most if not all of the collisions we see reported are preventableâ€Â, says Oxford County OPP Inspector Tim Clark. “Take your time, and be focused, especially with the busy holiday season upon us.â€Â
