COLLISIONS ON HIGHWAY 17

(NORTH BAY, ON) – At approximately 4:40 pm on July 22, 2014 the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 17 near the intersection of Jocko Point Road.

OPP investigators have determined that a Nissan sports utility vehicle (SUV) was traveling westbound on Highway 17 and a Dodge pick-up truck turned left in front of the Nissan. The SUV collided with the pick-up.

The three occupants of the Nissan and the lone occupant of the Dodge were transported to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending

West Nipissing fire department, Police Service and Ambulance attended the scene

A West Nipissing volunteer firefighter, driving his personal motorcycle, was enroute to the scene, when he was also involved in a collision. He was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. This collision is still under investigation.

Motorists are asked to exercise caution and reduce their speed when approaching the scene of a collision for their own safety and that of emergency workers.
