(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) – Shortly after 7 p.m. on Thursday August 06, 2015, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a two vehicle collision on Perth Road 107 north of Hwy 8 in Shakespeare.
Investigation indicated that a Mercedes Sedan was stopped in the north bound lane of Perth Road 107 due to a vehicle that was blocking the roadway. A Honda SUV travelling north bound on Perth Road 107 drove into the back of the Mercedes.
As a result of the collision, the 35-year-old female driver of the Mercedes, a resident of Kitchener was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Honda, 45-year-old Adrienne WINSLOW of the Township of Perth South did not sustain injuries. She had been charged with “careless driving”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
Road and environmental conditions were ideal at the time of the collision.
Drivers are reminded that they must make a point of being able to see dangerous situations before they happen and to respond quickly and effectively to prevent them. This is called defensive or strategic driving. Leave a cushion of space ahead, behind and to both sides. Because the greatest risk of a collision is in front of you, stay well back.
