(BLANDFORD BLENHEIM TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a collision involving an Oxford County OPP cruiser. The collision occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. this evening on Highway 401 westbound near Blenheim Road.
Shortly after 5:00 p.m., the officer responded to a single vehicle collision in the westbound lanes on the highway. The officer had arrived at the scene and was sitting in the parked cruiser on the shoulder when a westbound vehicle struck the cruiser from behind.
The officer and the other driver were both transported by ambulance to area hospital with minor injuries. The investigation is continuing.
The highway was shut down westbound between Cedar Creek and Oxford Road 3 for two hours and has now been re-opened.
