(COLLINGWOOD, ONTARIO) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing to investigate a collision in Collingwood over the weekend in which a pedestrian was hit by an involved vehicle.
On the 19th of April 2014 at approximately 2:45pm, OPP officers, Simcoe County paramedics and Town of Collingwood firefighters responded to a collision on First Street at Beech Street in Collingwood. Investigation found that a west bound Honda SUV on First Street was turning left onto Beech Street when it collided with an east bound BMW car which caused the BMW to go off the roadway and hit a pedestrian who was standing on the sidewalk.
The pedestrian, a 51 year-old female, was transported to a local hospital and later air lifted to a Toronto area hospital, where she remains at this time with serious injuries. One of the involved drivers was also transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.
As a result of the crash, the First Street and Beech Street intersection was closed for a number of hours as OPP Traffic Collision Investigators were dispatched to document the scene and assist with the ongoing investigation.
