COLLISION ON 26 HIGHWAY

(SPRINGWATER, ON)- Officers from the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted an investigation into a multi vehicle crash on Highway 26 last Friday August 8,2014 at 4:30pm and have now charged a driver in relation to that collision.

The collision occurred in the area of Highway 26 and Culham Road in Springwater Township. Investigation revealed that a west bound vehicle was stopped on Highway 26 waiting to make a left turn when it was rear ended by another west bound vehicle. That collision caused the vehicle that was hit to be pushed into the east bound lane causing another collision in the east bound lane. An east bound motorcycle then collided with the vehicles at the scene of the crash.

As a result of these collisions, several occupants were treated at the scene by Simcoe County Paramedics taken to hospital for treatment. Officers had the road closed for several hours to investigate the crash with the assistance of the OPP Central Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigations Unit (TTCI). As a result of this investigation, William COTTON 43 years of Clearview Township has been charged Carless Driving contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
