Collision Near Grand Bend – 22 Year Old Airlifted To Hospital

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers continue to investigate a single motor vehicle crash that occurred early this morning near Grand Bend.

Just before 4:30 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services and South Huron Fire Department personnel responded to the collision scene located on Grand Bend Line between Kirkton Road and B Line Road.

OPP officers located a heavily damaged Mercedes MC4 off the roadway in a field. The lone occupant/driver of a Mercedes MC4 had to be extricated from the vehicle by South Huron Fire Department personnel. The driver was initially transported to a local hospital and then was airlifted by Air ORNG to a hospital in London for treatment.

The driver, 22-year-old Riley PAVEY, from Strathroy remains in hospital with serious injuries.

Members from the West Region OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) Team attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation.

The crash remains under investigation but alcohol is believed to be a factor in this crash.

The roadway has just been re-opened.
